Anti-Drug Anti-Gang Warriors

The Anti-Drug-Anti-Gang Warriors Tour Program (GW Tour) aims to address the root causes of youth violence and to develop workable solutions to problems inner-city youth are confronted with that have a damaging effect on communities.

The GW Tour has been designed to provide community members with information, tools, skills, and a foundation to establish a community network integral to accessing and using existing prevention and intervention resources by working to change the cultural environment of the communities served. The GW Tour employs former gang members who have emerged into urban specialists as authentic culturally sensitive messengers to deliver its messages, believing this approach has a greater probability of success in reaching targeted audiences. The GW Tour uses these urban specialists to facilitate workshops (some are school-based workshops) related to issues confronting inner-city youth including gang awareness, gun violence awareness, value clarification, anger management, teen/date violence, hidden dangers of drugs, and others. School-based workshops are designed to provide the foundation for a reduction in disruptive behavior and violent incidents in schools, thereby creating a better learning environment helping students excel academically.
