Anti-Gun Violence Employment Program
The Anti-Gun Violence Employment Program (AGVEP) is a year-round employment program for people between the ages of 14 and 24 that increases employment opportunities for participants who may be at risk of being victimized or perpetrating violence.
New York City’s Office of Neighborhood Safety (ONS) launch of the Anti-Gun Violence Employment Program (AGVEP) as a way to offer employment and enrichment opportunities for our Cure Violence/Crisis Management Service participants. AGVEP provides opportunities that include but are not limited to acquiring needed documents required for employment (social security cards, identification cards, and more), creating partnerships with local stakeholders, organizations and businesses to serve as  work sites for job placements, opportunities to attend meeting and trainings offered by our agency partners, and other assistance. AGVEP facilitates opportunities for participants to work at community-based organizations engaged in positive activities to cultivate self-efficacy and leadership skills designed to contribute to their social, educational, and professional growth and development. AGVEP is a seasonal employment program. The program consists of two phases: a 6-week summer program and a 25-week school year program. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to community canvassing, asset mapping, data/research gathering, community outreach and coordinating/ conducting shooting responses.
